Get ready for the trip of a lifetime!
Our Metro Detroit Jewish community is going to Israel in 2023!
March 12-21, 2033
The Jewish soul has always longed for connection to the Land of Israel.
Our magnificent homeland is a place of beauty, of mystery, of adventure, and of spirit. Ancient wonders meet technological marvels, often in a single day. Israel is cobblestone streets and skyscrapers, camels and jet skis, falafel in home-baked bread and world-class wineries. It is hiking, dancing, and shopping, not necessarily in that order.
Our great medieval poet, Yehuda Halevi, described the painful yearning of exile by writing, “My heart is in the east” … and next year, we have the opportunity to fulfill his dream by travelling to Israel together from March 12-21, 2023! For many months now, I have been working with both the Federation and several local rabbis to create the “Motor City Mission” – the first time our Detroit Jewish community is going to Israel together in more than a decade. And as much as I love the idea of all going together, I am even more excited to travel with our own TBE contingent! We’ll have our own bus (or two, if enough people register) and lots of time to explore the best of Israel while building and deepening Temple friendships.
Whether this will be your first trip to Israel, or you’ve visited numerous times, our itinerary is designed to impress! Our adults-only journey will include unique historical visits, first class culinary experiences, VIP encounters, and lots of adventure. You can find all the details at www.MotorCityMission.com, but highlights include:
The time is now, and registration is officially open! Save your spot today with a $500 deposit per person, which is fully refundable through September 1, 2022.
Federation is offering subsidies on a first-come, first-served basis – sign up now so you don’t miss out. And, of course, TBE also has financial aid available … we will do our best to ensure that nobody decides to pass for financial reasons.
I have already spoken with dozens of Temple members interested in going to Israel – and I truly hope you will join Rachel Ann and me, Temple President Rochelle Nelson, and our enthusiastic bus captains: Judy Roberts and Nancy Fortier!
We say it every year at Passover, but let it be a reality for you this time:
Next year … truly … in Jerusalem!
