Day for Justice Everyone is invited to participate in our Day for Justice. In honor of the MLK holiday weekend, we will volunteer and participate in a variety of community service projects.
There are options for people of all ages. Let’s all work together to bring a little more justice into our world.
OPTION 1
JARC
at Temple Beth El
10:30am – 12:00pm
For all ages
We will be doing crafts and playing games with residents of JARC.
OPTION 2
Yad Ezra Giving Gardens
at Yad Ezra, Oak Park
10:00am – 12:00pm
For families with children ages 6-12
We will be in the gardens doing a variety of tasks which may include processing herbs/making tea bags, putting together mushroom grow bags, or seeding/harvesting micro greens.
(Volunteers choosing this option will not be able to attend our Kick Off at TBE)
OPTION 3
Detroit Community Fridge
at Temple Beth El
10:30am – 12:00pm
For participants ages 13 and up
We will be cooking casseroles in the TBE kitchen to be donated to the Detroit Community Firdge.
OPTION 4
Brilliant Detroit- Home Libraries
At Temple Beth El
10:30am – 12:00pm
For all ages
We will be creating deliverable home libraries for children in households with limited access to reading materials. This hands-on project offers a fun, creative way to support literacy, nuture a love of reading, and help build brighter futures for Detroit families. Please bring gently used books for donation.
OPTION 5
Jewish Senior Life
At Fleischman Residence, West Bloomfield
11:00am – 12:00pm
For all ages
We will visit with the residents at Fleischman as we play bingo and enjoy our time together.
OPTION 6
Noah Project
At Temple Beth El
10:30am – 12:00pm
For families with children ages 4 and up
We will make 300 bagged lunches filled with sandwiches and snacks that will be served to the homeless on the following day.
OPTION 7
Project Linus
at Temple Beth El
10:30am – 12:00pm
For all ages
We will make fleece blankets for Project Linus. They gift these blankets to children who are ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.
