"When I was a little boy my father - the 'real Rabbi Goor,' as he was fond of calling himself - was arrested and put in jail. I was scared, until I learned that he was in jail because he had marched with Martin Luther King. I learned at a young age that standing up for what is right is a sacred obligation."
- Rabbi Don Goor, Temple Judea, CA
As Reform Jews, pursuing justice and working together to create a better world is central to who we are as individuals and as a community. We see brokenness around us, and we seek to be repairers of the breach. We see families without healthcare, neighbors losing their homes or unable to afford one at all, members of our community who struggle to become recognized as citizens. Just Congregations is a strategy of the Reform movement to enable our communities to act powerfully together to create the change we want to see in the world. By training ourselves and our fellow Reform Jewish leaders in the tools and tradition of community organizing, we grow our capacity to have a meaningful and systemic impact on our communities.
