 by 81st Annual Glazer Institute scholar\, Dr. Samuel D. Gruber\n\nJoin us 
 at Temple for a beautiful Shabbat-in-the-Round service\, held in the Sanct
 uary Foyer. He will treat us to a sermon about the incredible stained glas
 s windows that adorn the Foyer and were originally created for our previou
 s TBE building. Special Oneg will follow services.\n\nDr. Gruber is perha
 ps America’s foremost authority on synagogue architecture\, and a sought
 -after expert on religious and cultural heritage preservation. One hundred
  years ago\, when Albert Kahn designed Temple Beth El\, religious building
 s in the Detroit area were responding to a world of growing industrializat
 ion\, expanding travel realities\, and fears about social order after WWI.
  Just like today\, when people turn to their religious communities as a so
 urce of hope and determination\, the structures we sit in offer an intenti
 onal framework that can both contribute to and limit the nature of our sac
 red relationships. This year’s Glazer Institute will include vibrant le
 arning\, as well as interactive conversation about evolving interfaith eng
 agement in our city.
