"SHABBAT HOST" PROGRAM DEBUTS
Several months ago, a member of our Board of Trustees, David Handleman, approached me with an intriguing idea.
David suggested that I invite members of the congregation to be designated as "Hosts" for Shabbat services for which the Oneg Shabbat or Kiddush was not being sponsored. These "Hosts" would sit on the pulpit, be honored with a part in the service, and hopefully invite their friends and family to join in worship with us.
This honor carries with it no expectation that the "Hosts" will sponsor the Oneg Shabbat or Kiddush, though their own personal decision to do so would be greeted with our warmest appreciation.
I have begun to work my way through the Temple roster alphabetically, and thus far, three families have welcomed my invitation.
Howard & Eleanor Barron - Friday, May 28
Robert & Beverly Canvasser - August 27
Peter & Shelly Cooper - September 24
Please come share in their new Simcha!
And please, if you would like to be a "Host", drop me a note at Temple. Your participation in this new initiative will be enjoyable for you, and an honor for us!
I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Rabbi Daniel B. Syme
