CELEBRATING SUKKOT WITH THE JEWISH WAR VETERANS
By Deloris Weinstein-Hall, Social Action Chair
On Sunday, October 16, the Jewish War Veterans were the guests of Temple Beth El and the TBE Social Action Committee as we celebrated Sukkot together. Keren Alpert, Rabbinic Associate, enlightened the group with an explanation of the Four Species – the Lulav and the Etrog. One interpretation of them is that they are said to represent four different types of Jews in regard to learning and performance of good deeds, but all Jews, whatever their "type", she assured us, have something to contribute to Klal Yisrael and to each other. Following Keren’s Sukkot lesson, Betty Schare spoke eloquently of spreading over ourselves the sukkah of peace. Tessa Goldberg then led an informative Q and A with our guests. Each guest received two delightful recipes, representative of foods prepared by Jews throughout the Diaspora. They then enjoyed refreshments provided by the TBE Social Action Committee. Our thanks to all who attended.
