WE'RE COUNTING ON YOU
Membership is a ten letter word meaning the state of being a member and member is a six letter word meaning a person who belongs to a group or an organization. What do these two words really mean in terms of Temple Beth El? Our membership is open to all with our flexible dues arrangements dependent on individual circumstances. Our members include a diverse cross section of the population - couples and singles aged twenty-something to ninety-something, some with children and some without children, widows and widowers, some who were born Jewish, some who may have chosen Judaism.
Temple Beth El is a congregation where members may freely explore and express their Judaism. Our congregation is a Community of Study, a House of Prayer and a Place of Gathering. This is where you, our members, come into the picture. We try to appeal to each of you with educational opportunities for children and adults, with varied High Holy Day, Shabbat and Festival services; with the feeling of a community of friends coming together to celebrate life’s joys, cope with life’s challenges and work to improve the world. I would like each of you to become more engaged in these three aspects of our Temple as they apply to your own personal circumstances. As you become more involved, we would ask that you invite an unaffiliated relative, friend or neighbor to join you at an adult education class, a religious service or a social event. We are very proud of the 155-year history of Temple Beth El and are anxious to share its riches by continuing to increase our membership.
Please contact Rabbi Syme, Rabbi Castiglione or me at dennis@ffcpa.com or 248-737-7113 with any suggestions you may have for enhancing our Temple Community. We are open to your thoughts regarding educational opportunities, innovations for our worship services, fund-raising and fun-raising ideas, proposals for support groups and general matters relating to the Temple. I look forward to seeing you at our Annual Meeting June 23. Don’t forget to click on our new Temple website www.tbeonline.org often to keep abreast of all of the exciting things happening in and around Beth El.
Best wishes for a pleasant summer, Dennis Frank, President
