GROWING!

by Lena Epstein, Lilly Epstein, and Alex Stotland

Are you looking to make lifelong friends or reconnect with old friends from Temple Beth El?

We are pleased to announce the formation of Temple Beth El’s Next Generation Group. “Next Gen” is a group dedicated to promoting and enhancing a sense of community and Jewish identity among young professionals between the ages of 20 and 35. Recognizing that many young people are challenged in establishing their own personal connection with a temple, and being true to Temple Beth El’s motto of “Come home to Beth El,” this group is designed to foster a sense of connection and community.

Organized by Rabbi Syme, the Next Gen group meets monthly for social events around town. Co-chairs for the group are Lena Epstein, Lilly Epstein, and Alex Stotland. Next Gen started with a core group of 25 members and we’re looking for more! The group of past, present and possible future Temple members has been meeting regularly since its inaugural meeting in April.

If you know of someone who would like to be a part of the Next Gen group, we invite you to contact Tina Crozier in Rabbi Syme’s study at 248-865-0602, or via e-mail at
tcrozier@tbeonline.org.

NEXT GENERATION GROUP GROWING!

Calling all 20s and 30s Metro Detroiters:

Temple Beth El’s Next Generation Group, “Next Gen,” is a group dedicated to promoting and enhancing a sense of community and Jewish identity among young professionals in their 20s and 30s. Recognizing that many young people face challenges in establishing their own personal connection with a temple, and being true to Temple Beth El’s motto of “Come home to Beth El,” Next Gen is designed to foster the sense of Jewish connection and community that we all desire. This group of past, present and possible future Temple members is comprised of both single and married people, all with the hopes of expanding their connection with Judaism.

Our group’s inaugural meeting was last April, followed by a kickoff event at our very own Mark Dizik’s wine store, Napa Marketplace. Next Gen-ers enjoyed a great evening of fantastic wines from around the world while getting to know each other. Since then, our group has enjoyed a bar night, bowling party, Tigers game, volunteer work with the elderly, a barbeque, Shabbat services, and much more. We have also enjoyed the company of both Rabbi Syme and Cantor Gottlieb at many events.

Next Gen meets every other month for events around town. Our core group of 25 members is growing and looking for more members. Next Gen is open to all members of the Jewish community. Our next event will be a Tigers game on Saturday, Sept 8, and it would be great to see many new faces at the event. We strongly urge you to check us out! Most event communications are done via e-mail. If you have questions on the group, or to subscribe to the Next Gen mailing list for yourself or for a friend, please contact Tina in Rabbi Syme’s Study, 248-851-1100, ext 3142.

With Beth El love,
Lena, Lilly and Alex
