Ambassadors President

LOIS FREEMAN, AMBASSADORS PRESIDENT

Lois Freeman is a woman who “just can’t say no”! She begins her 12th consecutive year as Ambassadors President this month. But the Ambassadors and the congregation are grateful for her saying “yes”. The Ambassadors has provided a monthly opportunity for members and friends to enjoy outstanding programming and delightful lunches year after year after year.

The presidency is only one of her many Temple commitments. Co-Chair of the Brick Campaign, Co-Head Usher, Sisterhood Corresponding Secretary and a member of the Board of Trustees, Lois is a former co-chair of Sisterhood’s Party Planning Showcase and the Yom Kippur Break Fast, a past Sisterhood vice president and former Docent Committee chair. She was honored by Sisterhood as the 1999 recipient of the Women of Reform Judaism’s Deborah Award and by the Rabbis as the November 2000 Mitzvah Model. Lois is also a member of the boards of the Society for Technion and the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan and was honored in 2006 as the Jewish Historical Society’s Outstanding Volunteer of the Year. She is currently Vice President of the JHS and chaired its 49th annual meeting, held for the first time at Temple Beth El. She is most proud to have been called to the bimah in November, 2008 as an Adult Bat Mitzvah.
Lois and her husband, Harvey, were co-sponsors of the 2007 Senior Concert. Lois and Harvey’s family includes sons, Dr. Michael, David and Dr. Thomas; daughter-in-law, Susan; and four grandchildren.
