3RD ANNUAL CROOZ AND SCHMOOZ BEST YET!
By Harriet Cooperman and Sandy Beigler, Crooz Co-Chairs and Sisterhood Social Action Co-Vice Presidents
On Sunday, July 23, Sisterhood hosted TBE’s 3rd Annual Crooz and Schmooz Car Show. It was a great day and everyone had a great time! There was music and food. The children were kept busy with remote control cars and an inflatable bouncer. Most important, over $900 was raised through raffle sales and car registration for Kids Kicking Cancer. Mark Phelan, the Detroit Free Press Auto Critic, graciously donated his time to judge the cars. Cars were judged in eight categories and 11 trophies were awarded.
Winners were: Best Street Rod, 1st Place, Gary Mark; 2nd Place, Bob Steinhaus. Best Classic Car, 1st Place, Irv Fishman, 2nd Place, Theresa Meyer. Best Muscle Car, 1st Place, Gerald Szymanski, 2nd Place, Frank & Debbie Pascoe. Best Detailed, Otto Dube; Best Tuner, Gregg Weiner; Best Truck, Libby Meinart. Judges Choice, Pre-1949, Dave Paulision; Judges Choice, Post-1949, Kerry & John Borgman.
A special thank you to Mark Phelan for taking on the difficult task of choosing winners and for giving of his time. Everyone who registered a car received a “goodie bag’ filled with a car plaque and many great gifts from our wonderful sponsors. Forty-five prizes were also donated and given away in a raffle.
Our thanks to the many committee members and TBE staff for all their hard work: Jerry Beigler, Mark Cooperman, Otto Dube, Lucy & Richard Gersten, Harriett & Leo Hollander, Renee & Tom Jablonski, Dolly & Fred Lax, Karen Lowen, Mark Phelan, Patti Phillips, Bob Steinhaus, Deloris Weinstein-Hall and Marie Curtis, Barbara Grant and the TBE Maintenance Staff.
