A Time For Renewal – Brick by Brick
Larry Epstein, President

Each year we come to this time of new beginnings, this period of taking stock of ourselves, and after full and honest reflection we commit ourselves anew to being better, trying harder and doing more. It is not sufficient to merely consider becoming better individuals. As Jews, we believe that it is action that counts. It is what we do that matters.

We are sensitive to the passing of time, the meaning and importance of family and we recall the past, remembering those we have lost and who are no longer with us. We honor their memory by staying true to the values they held dear, because these are our values, too. They remain our guiding principles l’dor va dor, from generation to generation.

We will be undertaking a major effort to chart a course of strength for Temple Beth El. It is our goal to guide Temple to a position of financial stability and security, not just for today, but for years to come. So for the Temple, too, this is a time of rebuilding, a time of renewal. It is, therefore, fitting that we do so “Brick by Brick” as we launch the second phase of our Brick campaign, by adding additional pavers to the beautifully engraved ones already in place at the entrance to the main sanctuary.

By adding your engraved brick to the walk, you can permanently commemorate your family’s milestones, accomplishments and simchas. Bricks may also be placed as a lasting tribute to those whose memories you cherish.

This is a way of taking action, in our own generation, to build and record for posterity, our commitment and dedication to strengthening the bonds of Judaism, Temple and family. In so doing, we also insure that our beloved Temple Beth El remains strong so that it may educate yet another generation of our young people and continue as a focal point for ritual and worship as well as providing the life-cycle support and pastoral services this community needs. Acting today, in the present, we honor the past as we lay the foundations for our future.
